There are a lot of people trying to figure out what the game plan is for the Utah Jazz before the 2022-23 NBA season. Are they going to restock the roster around Donovan Mitchell, or will he be traded as well and the team will head into a full-on rebuild?
The deals that they have made already this offseason, trading Royce O’Neale to the Brooklyn Nets and Rudy Gobert to the Minnesota Timberwolves, would indicate a rebuild. Being open to trade calls centered on Mitchell would indicate the same, however, there have been reports that they want to keep Mitchell and reload around him.
Not even the players on the roster know what the plan is. Patrick Beverley, who was acquired as part of that Gobert deal, admitted he has no idea what is going on. If the Jazz is going to try winning games, he is a great player to have as part of their backcourt rotation. If the goal is to tank and rebuild, Beverley will be on the move.
Utah shouldn’t have an issue trading him, as there are already teams interested in him should he be made available. Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report shared the update.
“Patrick Beverley also appears to be a strong trade candidate. The former Timberwolves point guard has drawn interest from the Lakers and Heat, sources told B/R. Philadelphia had been mentioned as a potential Beverley suitor, with his past Houston experience and the Sixers’ obvious deep Rockets connections, but it seems unlikely that Beverley would now be Philadelphia-bound after the team acquired De’Anthony Melton on draft night.”

The Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat both have bigger deals they are attempting to pull off right now. The Lakers want Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets and have also been linked to Eric Gordon of the Houston Rockets and Buddy Hield of the Indiana Pacers.
Miami has been the most determined to acquire Kevin Durant from the Nets and has also been mentioned as a landing spot for Beverley’s teammate Mitchell. That is where all of the Heat’s attention will be until a resolution is reached with each player.
