New Utah Jazz point guard Patrick Beverley is no stranger to changing addresses. He has been traded five times since being drafted in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft when the Los Angeles Lakers sent him to the Miami Heat for a future second-round pick.
This offseason was his most recent move, as he was traded by the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Jazz as part of the Rudy Gobert blockbuster trade. It was the third time in less than 11 months that he has been involved in a deal.
Last August he was traded by the LA Clippers to the Memphis Grizzlies. He was with Memphis for nine days before he was shipped to Minnesota, where he spent the entire 2021-22 season, appearing in 58 games and starting four of them. He even signed an extension with the Timberwolves, but that was ultimately used to help facilitate the trade.
Everywhere Beverley has gone in his basketball career he has helped the team turn things around, especially on the defensive end of the court. Beverley is a tenacious defender, earning a reputation as an irritant and his energy level is infectious.

However, Beverley isn’t sure that he is going to be in Salt Lake City for the long haul. During a recent live video, the candid Beverley let it be known that he has no idea what the plan is in Utah.
“Utah ya’ll tryna win or ya’ll tryna tank, let me know… We gon take Utah all the way, or Utah gon say they don’t need me and we can go somewhere else?”
Given the current makeup of the roster, Beverley would likely come off the bench for the Jazz, playing behind Mike Conley Jr. and Donovan Mitchell. Utah may not be done making moves, as there have been some rumors that they could look to trade Mitchell as well and go into a full rebuild.

If that is the avenue that the franchise decides to take, Patrick Beverley could very well be on the move again. Contending teams would love to add his leadership and defensive intensity to their roster and the Jazz would likely relish the opportunity to add more draft capital to their coffers.
