Portland Trail Blazers Receive: F Andrew Wiggins, C James Wiseman, 2025 First-Round Pick (Swap – GSW), 2026 First-Round Pick (GSW), 2028 First-Round Pick (GSW)
Golden State Warriors Receive: G Damian Lillard
In a world where the Portland Trail Blazers don’t want Jonathan Kuminga, and don’t want Jordan Poole, but are open to moving Damian Lillard to the Golden State Warriors, this is the trade.
Unfortunately, the Warriors don’t have a great deal of draft capital to give up in the short term. They already have their 2024 first-rounder sent out, so they can’t trade their ’25 pick outright. Meanwhile, the Blazers don’t own their own 2023 selection, so a swap there isn’t viable either.
Still, a proven commodity in Wiggins, an intriguing young player in Wiseman, two future first-round picks, and a swap is a good haul for a 31-year-old Lillard. Realistically, whether the Blazers agree will hinge on their assessment of Wiseman.
The recent number two pick hasn’t proven much at the NBA level yet. Still, he holds potential. If he can develop into an elite rim protector with a semblance of floor spacing, he’ll be a highly productive NBA player.
