The Golden State Warriors managed to pull off a successful NBA Finals run — winning their fourth championship with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green.

Among the key contributors for the Warriors throughout their run was Wiggins. He averaged 18.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks during the NBA Finals. He was integral in Golden State’s defensive efforts to slow down Jayson Tatum.

Wiggins is set to enter the final year of his current contract — earning him $33.6 million. He will reach free agency next offseason after solidifying his value by playing an important part in a title run. Golden State will have plenty of tough decisions to make when it comes to keeping their team together.

“I would love to stay here,” Wiggins said Saturday afternoon at the Warriors’ exit interviews. “Being here, this is top-notch. The way they treat the players … we’re all one big family. I feel like a lot of places may say that, but they show it through their actions.”

Before Andrew Wiggins found his niche with the Warriors, there was a lot of talk about how poor of a value his contract is. It took some time, but he has found comfort in playing a smaller, complementary role in a half-court offense with more movement instead of being a top option often running high ball screens.

“There was a lot of talk, people have something to say about every little thing, but now I’m happy that I made it here,” Wiggins said. “People didn’t think I could ever be in this position or even be helpful on a championship team. But I’m proving the doubters wrong and I’m going to keep it going.”

The Golden State Warriors will have to give a contract extension to Jordan Poole next offseason, too. During this offseason, they will have Kevon Looney, Otto Porter Jr., Gary Payton II, Nemanja Bjelica, and Andre Iguodala all reaching free agency this offseason.
