The 2024 NBA Playoffs did not go according to plan for the Phoenix Suns. The blockbuster moves they made to create the newest Big 3 in the league looked great on paper but did not produce on the court.
Mortgaging their future to add Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal in trades alongside Devin Booker has left the Suns in a brutal spot. They have zero future assets in terms of draft picks, which makes maneuvering and upgrading the roster in the NBA offseason a very difficult task.
Something has to be done after their performance in the postseason. Phoenix was swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves, who finished the job on Sunday evening with a 122-116 victory. That has left a lot of people asking questions about what the future could hold for the franchise.
Another blockbuster trade could be in the works, but it would be Phoenix selling. According to ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, Booker is looking for a ticket out of town and wants to be traded to the New York Knicks.

“Devin Booker wants to be in New York, that’s what I’m being told,” Smith said during Monday’s episode of First Take on ESPN with Shannon Sharpe.
The Knicks have been in the market for a blockbuster trade for years. But, unlike under previous regimes, Leon Rose has exhibited patience in waiting for the correct deal. He isn’t going to make a deal just to make a deal; it has to be a good fit with what is already in place.
What is already in place in New York is a burgeoning, long-term contender. Jalen Brunson‘s ascension into a star has made the Knicks an attractive landing spot for other players, as they are on the front door of contention if they aren’t already at that level.
What the Knicks have been able to accomplish this season with Julius Randle being sidelined since January 27th with an injury is truly remarkable. Brunson is a legitimate star and if New York can add a player of Booker’s caliber without blowing up their entire rotation, they would be considered among the favorites to contend for the NBA Championship.
