Portland Trail Blazers Receive: F Michael Porter Jr., F Aaron Gordon, 2024 First-Round Pick (Swap – DEN), 2026 First-Round Pick (Swap – DEN), 2027 First-Round Pick (Swap – DEN)
Denver Nuggets Receive: G Damian Lillard
When the Denver Nuggets awarded Michael Porter Jr. with a contract worth roughly $29.7 million a year, the reviews were mixed.
Nobody would deny that his play has earned that kind of deal. Any reservations observers had about his deal had to do with his health. Back issues impacted his draft stock. Unfortunately for the Nuggets, they’ve impacted his professional career since he signed the deal as well.
Do the Portland Trail Blazers have any faith in him to turn his injury fortunes around? If they do, this is a good trade for them. When healthy, Porter Jr is a 6’10, sweet-shooting wing who can create three-point looks out of thin air.
It’s just unfortunate that the “when healthy” caveat is so applicable. If the Blazers aren’t keen to invest so much in Porter Jr.’s health improving, they may not like this deal.
