Portland Trail Blazers Receive: G Jamal Murray, F Aaron Gordon, 2024 First-Round Pick (Swap – DEN), 2026 First-Round Pick (Swap – DEN), 2027 First-Round Pick (Swap – DEN)
Denver Nuggets Receive: G Damian Lillard
Why yes, this is the same deal only with Jamal Murray subbed into Michael Porter Jr.’s place. What a keen eye for observation you have.
Realistically, the Denver Nuggets could offer the first deal first, and if (when?) the Portland Trail Blazers declined, they could follow up with this deal. In all likelihood, it’ll be a little more tempting for them.
After all, Murray may be coming off a major injury, but he doesn’t project as having the same long-term issues as Porter Jr. When healthy, he’s flashed enough potential for the Blazers to hope that, at 25, he could reach Lillard’s level someday.
Alternatively, they may not see that potential in Murray. The Blazers could reason that, if they’re trading Lillard, they’d prefer to start from scratch.
