The Denver Nuggets have done an admirable job building their team, but they’re draft poor. If Portland requires a package built around draft capital, they won’t be able to provide one.
Enter the New York Knicks. They’ve got one of the better collections of draft picks in the NBA. They’re also in need of a point guard. This deal has them swapping two first-rounders to wrestle Jamal Murray from the Nuggets.
The Nuggets may not mind. After all, they’re acquiring Damian Lillard. This deal would signal an all-in bet on the present for this organization. Lillard and Jokic would undeniably be one of the best tandems in the NBA. With a healthy Michael Porter Jr., this team would be a major player in the race for the Larry O’Brien trophy.
The Portland Trail Blazers, to put it lightly, would not be. This deal has them starting over: it would be a complete teardown. They’d likely ship off more of their veterans in a bid to be one of the worst teams in the NBA over the next couple of seasons.
