Donovan Mitchell
The Utah Jazz is another team that could see some major changes to their franchise this offseason. They already had one, as Quin Snyder stepped down as head coach of the team. After finding his replacement, the roster will be next.
Their All-Star duo of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert has seemingly run its course. The relationship on and off the court between the two is irreparable, which means a trade is inevitable. The Hawks have been linked to both players.
They are one of the favorites to land Gobert should he be moved and are reportedly one of three teams, along with the New York Knicks and Miami Heat, that Donovan has an interest in should he request a trade. Atlanta should push the issue and make an aggressive offer for Mitchell to bring him to Atlanta.
While Donovan Mitchell hasn’t lived up to expectations defensively in the NBA, he has turned into one of the better offensive players. He is a legitimate star, being named to the All-Star team three times and helping the Jazz qualify for the postseason all five seasons in the league.
LATEST NBA NEWS AND TRADE RUMORS: Atlanta Hawks’ Bold Offseason Plans Involve Trae Young, De’Andre Hunter
Pairing him with Young won’t help their defensive issues, but the Hawks would have the most dynamic offensive backcourt in the NBA. Teams would struggle to slow down Young and Donovan Mitchell, both more than capable of running the offense and being the go-to option.
Atlanta would have to pay up to acquire him, but they should have enough shooters and defenders to put around those two so that the team can still find success. Having two players capable of scoring 25 points every night in their sleep is a luxury not many teams have.
