D’Angelo Russell
The Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly open to trading point guard, D’Angelo Russell. He is someone that the Atlanta Hawks could have some interest in if they are looking to add another playmaker alongside Trae Young in the backcourt.
D’Angelo Russell has the size at 6’4” with a 6’10” wingspan, to defend either backcourt position and some wings. Adding some length alongside the diminutive Young would make some sense for Atlanta and Russell would provide that.
The Ohio State product has struggled at times with his efficiency but is a 35.6 percent career shooter from 3-point range. Coming off a season in which he averaged a career-high 7.1 assists per game, he could be a great fit alongside Young in the backcourt for Atlanta.
Having the ball in Young’s hands is something that could be seen as a negative for the Hawks, but it could open up some things for the team offensively. Playing Young off the ball would also help save him for the long run and enable Nate McMillan to try some different things on offense with Young as a spot-up shooter.
