Eric Gordon

Is Eric Gordon a 3-and-D wing? That depends on who you ask.

His three-point shooting is unimpeachable. Eric Gordon has been taking a high volume of threes and hitting a solid percentage of them for seasons on end now. It’s basically become the bulk of his job description ver his time in Houston, and he seems to have embraced the role.

Defensively, it’s a little more complicated. The metrics suggest that he’s not elite, but he’s been frequently tasked with guarding the opposing team’s best player as a Rocket. The Sixers should be able to offer him some reduced responsibilities on that. He’s fundamentally sound enough that he ought to shine in that environment.

Still, the offense is the main appeal with Gordon. He’s been mostly spacing the floor in Space City, but that’s not all he’s got up his sleeve. Gordon can create his own shot in a pinch. That makes him the perfect supporting player for the stars in Philly. He can bail them out in late clock situations, and space the floor for them first.

Plus, he’s got a little experience playing alongside James Harden under Daryl Morey. If the Sixers are interested in getting the band back together, Eric Gordon could be a perfect trade candidate for this squad.
