1. Tyus Jones

The Knicks are going to be connected to every point guard on the market in some capacity. While a lot of attention has been given to Jalen Brunson, Tyus Jones is another player that New York should be keeping tabs on.

For starters, he will cost a fraction of the price that Brunson does. Using a full mid-level exception could be all it takes to land Tyus Jones, who has spent the majority of his career as a backup point guard.

Offering him a chance to be a starter is an excellent bargaining chip for the Knicks. He has shown he is an elite backup and that his production doesn’t wane when pushed into starter’s minutes. If he is looking for a bigger role than Ja Morant’s backup, the Knicks can offer it to him.

His skill set is exactly what New York needs from a lead guard. He is an improving 3-point shooter, making 35.2 percent in his career and 39 percent this season. His ball security is excellent, as he has never averaged even one turnover per game in a season in his career.

Jones also has experience playing for Tom Thibodeau already, as he was the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves when Tyus Jones was selected No. 24 overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers and acquired by the Timberwolves. He knows what it takes to play for the demanding Thibodeau and would fit the mold as to what he is looking for from his starting point guard.
