The New York Knicks are entering the 2022 NBA offseason with an open mind. Things did not go well for them during the 2021-22 season, but they don’t have to go too far back to see that this group can succeed on the court.
New York is only one season removed from finishing fourth in the Eastern Conference and having home court for a first-round series. While that was likely one extreme, how they played this season very well could be the other. The Knicks, as currently constituted, are probably somewhere in the middle, challenging for a spot in the NBA Play-In Tournament.
However, with a few tweaks, they are a team that could push up for a spot outside of the Play-In Tournament. The biggest of those tweaks should be finding a starting point guard.
The point guard spot has been the bane of the Knicks’ existence for years, as they have been unable to lock down a long-term answer. They will try again this offseason, aggressively pursuing an upgrade whether it is via the 2022 NBA Draft, a trade or free agency.
