Golden State Warriors Receive: C Christian Wood
Houston Rockets Receive: C James Wiseman, F Chris Chiozza
The idea of the Golden State Warriors acquiring Christian Wood has been floating around the internet for some time now. Somehow, it feels equally plausible and absurd.
On the one hand, the notion of the Warriors adding a 39% three-point shooting big man should terrify the rest of the NBA. They’ve largely built their success on the backs of lineups that featured four-out spacing. Adding an extra dimension of shooting could unlock an even more unstoppable version of this team.
Furthermore, Wood’s well-documented defensive deficiencies shouldn’t impact the Warriors like they do the Houston Rockets. After all, Draymond Green is one of the best defenders of his generation. If anyone can make up the ground that Wood cedes on that end, it’s Draymond.
On the other hand, the Warriors’ offensive system is complex. It requires a certain amount of basketball IQ to function in. With all due respect, that hasn’t proven to be Wood’s forte.
