Bad Landing Spot: New York Knicks
There’s no particular reason to link Gordon Hayward to the New York Knicks. The internet is not filled with rumors linking him to the Big Apple.
We included them because the Knicks always find their way into these conversations. Where there’s a star aging out of his prime, most likely, there’s a Knicks executive closely behind.
Hayward is still a useful NBA contributor. He just can’t do nearly enough to lift these Knicks into the championship-contending tier. True, we said the same of the Kings, who we listed as a good landing spot.
Consider this a bet that a Sabonis/De’Aaron Fox/No. 4 pick/Hayward core is stronger than Julius Randle/RJ Barrett/Hayward. Plus, Barrett steps on his toes as a shot-creating, secondary playmaking wing.
