Why The Trade Benefits The Washington Wizards
Bradley Beal is still in D.C. after getting drafted by the franchise in 2012. The duo of Wall and Beal was unable to get Washington a championship and it looked like the roster was going to be blown up.
Instead, even after trading Wall, Washington remained aggressive and moved some pieces that did not fit. Beal is the last remaining player that would bring back a huge return.
Looking at the current state in Washington, Porzingis and Kuzma lead the way as core players that could stick around long-term. Porter Jr. would add to that group. When healthy, he has been viewed as one of the rising stars in the league and brings a new dynamic because of his size and ability to play the perimeter.
As a rebuilding team, Porter Jr. is exactly the type of player that the Washington Wizards should want to bring in, assuming he is healthy. They would also get draft picks that could be used for the future.

That is not to say that this move would get Washington any closer to the playoffs – exactly the opposite. It would set them more into rebuilding, which is where they should have been years ago. The Wizards are not a championship contender, which means Beal’s time could be running short.
