There comes a time when NBA teams reach a crossroad and have to make decisions that impact the franchise for years down the line. It seems as though Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets and Bradley Beal and the Washington Wizards could both be at that point, but for different reasons.
For Washington, it has to do with the future of Beal. When John Wall was traded, it seemed as though Washington would follow it up with a deal involving Beal.
Instead, the franchise decided to attempt to find players to put around Beal as quick fixes. That led to some postseason action, but the Wizards will never ben taken seriously as contenders as currently constructed.
Even though Beal has not requested a trade out of town, it could be coming if the franchise decides to blow it up.

The Nuggets are in this position after years of underachieving in the postseason. This year, Denver struggled without Jamal Murray, who missed the season recovering from a torn ACL. Nikola Jokic has won his second consecutive MVP award, but the Nuggets proved that they may need more star power to win.
With Murray returning next season, the front office could decide to go for it and make a blockbuster deal for another superstar. If Beal is available, this is certainly a deal that would shake up the Western Conference.
