Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, G/F Tim Hardaway Jr., 2026 First-Round Pick (DAL), 2028 First-Round Pick (DAL)
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Kyrie Irving
At first glance, this looks like a lowball offer for a player as skilled as Irving. That is until you consider that availability is a skill.
In all likelihood, the league won’t face another global pandemic. Irving’s anti-vax principles won’t likely stand in the way of him playing basketball again. Still, it’s worth noting: Irving openly chose something over basketball.
That’s fine. He’s a human being who’s entitled to his priorities. So are the general managers of NBA teams. In all likelihood, they’ll prefer players who would choose basketball in Irving’s shoes last season.
He may have depressed his trade value, but he’s still worth two quality rotation players and two first-round picks. The Brooklyn Nets replenish some draft capital with this deal and add two players who fit nicely in an offense that’s now built around Kevin Durant and Ben Simmons.

On the other hand, this may be a non-starter for the Nets. These two sides may need to find a third team to make a trade work here.
