Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Terry Rozier, G/F Tim Hardaway Jr., 2026 First-Round Pick (DAL)
Charlotte Hornets Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, 2028 First-Round Pick (DAL)
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Kyrie Irving
With this trade, the Brooklyn Nets sacrifice a first-round pick to acquire Terry Rozier. They’re strengthening their depth by receiving two quality players who will make themselves available when necessary.
They’re still adding a first-round pick. That’s valuable to a club that traded seven first-round picks and/or pick swap for half a season of James Harden. They may be able that Dallas pick in a trade for another star down the line.
Meanwhile, the Hornets are thinking about their draft capital and their cap sheet here. Dinwiddie’s deal runs half as long as Rozier’s, which will make it easier to move.
That’s vital for a team that will soon be making cap space for hefty contracts for Miles Bridges and LaMelo Ball. Adding a first-round pick in the process is a win for this organization.

Finally, the Dallas Mavericks receive Irving. For all the criticisms we’ve made of him in this article, he is by far the most talented player changing teams here.
That’s exactly why the Nets probably won’t do either of these trades. Still, if they’re exacerbated by Irving, they may explore scenarios to find him a new home. If they do, they may find that it’s hard to make good trades with teams who see how exacerbated they are.
