Brooklyn Nets Receive: C Nikola Vucevic, F Patrick Williams
Chicago Bulls Receive: G Kyrie Irving
This trade could be a huge benefit for the Brooklyn Nets. Specifically, it could do wonders for the tall task of maximizing Ben Simmons.
Like Irving, Simmons is a compounding player. His availability is similarly scarce. When he is on the floor, his absolute unwillingness to shoot makes him a difficult puzzle piece to incorporate into an offense, in spite of his many gifts.
Pairing him with a floor-spacing big like Vucevic goes a long way. Granted, Vooch had a down year in 2021-22, shooting just 31.4% from long distance. The Nets would have to feel confident that his inefficiency was an aberration.
Luckily, it probably was. Vucevic is a career 34.8% three-point shooter. He’s had far more good seasons than bad ones from distance. There are no sure things in the NBA, but Vooch regaining his form from deep feels like as safe a bet as any.

Patrick Williams is a huge get in his own right. The fourth overall pick in the 2020 draft profiles as an elite 3-and-D forward in the future. Still, if the Nets are turned off by his recent injury history, or just want a more known entity, they may be able to give up more in order to get more.
