There are some pros and cons to the idea of pursuing a trade for John Collins from the Dallas Mavericks’ perspective. At the very least, it’s worth giving consideration, and they were previously interested in him leading up to the NBA trade deadline.

There is potential for some Kristaps Porzingis vibes with Collins given he’s not all that talented as a shot creator himself, but has found times to speak up about how he needs the basketball more.

Collins would thrive as a lob threat playing with Luka Doncic, along with receiving no shortage of open 3s and dump-off passes in the paint.

Again, would Collins be satisfied with not being given many post touches? The game would be simple for him, but he’d need to be bought into the role he’d be tasked with playing.
