Nikola Jokic
This one might qualify as cheating. After all, we’d like to see Nikola Jokic team up with anybody.
Donovan Mitchell is certainly no exception. We’ve already seen Jokic with an explosive scoring guard in Jamal Murray. The thought of him playing alongside two leads you straight to basketball nirvana. Still, if we had to pick one, we’d pick Mitchell. Respectfully, he’s just a little better than Murray.
Mitchell’s career averages of 23.9 points and 4.5 assists per game dwarf Murray’s marks of 16.3 and 3.8. Granted, Mitchell has spent most of his career as an unquestioned first option, whereas Murray has been in Jokic’s shadow. He’s still a more proven shot-maker than his Canadian counterpart.
None of which is to say the two couldn’t co-exist alongside the Joker. With Jokic functioning as a playmaking hub, there would be room for both to pour in buckets in what would be one of the league’s most electrifying backcourt.

If Mitchell hits the open market, this situation becomes somewhat plausible. If the Jazz are tempted by Michael Porter Jr.’s upside, the odds of Mitchell landing in the Mile High City are greater than any that he’ll land in Beantown.
