Dejounte Murray
Dejounte Murray’s membership in the NBA’s star club is a recent development. This year, he authored a season worthy of Most Improved Player consideration.
He averaged 21.1 points, 9.2 assists, and 8.3 rebounds per game over 2021-22. His 2.0 steals per game were among the league’s best as well. By now, Murray is practically a clone of Russell Westbrook, only he’s been reprogrammed to defend and make good decisions.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t room on the hard drive to upgrade Westbrook’s inefficient three-point shooting.
Murray’s 32.7% accuracy on three-point attempts last season wants for improvement. At 25, he may-or-may-not achieve it. He can make a star impact regardless, but pairing him with a shot-maker of Mitchell’s ilk would be beneficial. His presence would allow Murray to focus on doing, well, literally everything besides knocking down threes.
