Making the Case: Los Angeles Lakers
The duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, when healthy, is good enough to win. We saw that down in the bubble when the Los Angeles Lakers won a title. The addition of Russell Westbrook was supposed to make the Lakers that much better but he struggled to fit in.
Westbrook shot 44.4% from the field this season and 29.8% from three-point range. Why would Los Angeles have thought that this was going to change? He is a career 30.5% three-point shooter. If they did not expect him to shoot the ball well, why bring him over?
The benefit of having a passer like James within the offense is that he can find open shooters once defenses collapse in the paint. He did not have that this season. James took on more of a scoring role. Conley, on the other hand, has shot the ball extremely well
Over the last two years, Conley is over 40% from three-point range. This has come playing off the ball. When LeBron James attacks the basket, Conley would be able to find the open spot along the perimeter for a shot. In the half-court, he can also handle the ball as he is a natural point guard.

The fit for Conley in Los Angeles is far and away better than that of Russell Westbrook. The Los Angeles Lakers would hit a massive home run if they were able to get this deal done.
