Rui Hachimura
Rui Hachimura hasn’t exactly been a disappointment in his career so far, but it would be difficult to say he’s exceeded expectations. The Houston Rockets shouldn’t hesitate to call the Wizards about him anyway.
He has all the makings of a late bloomer. Hachimura wasn’t introduced to basketball until the age of 13. His developmental arch may peak later than an average player. While his basic counting stats haven’t progressed much over 3 years in the league, his three-point percentage continues to climb. He shot 28.7% from deep in his rookie year, 32.8% as a sophomore, and 44.7% last year.
That’s an impressive climb. That accuracy alone makes Rui Hachimura a perfect fit in Coach Silas’ system. He’s also a solid, versatile defender with good athleticism. If Hachimura can develop his on-ball skills, he could become a very complete player in this league.
It wouldn’t come as a huge surprise if the Wizards made him available. Between Hachimura, Kyle Kuzma, and Deni Avdija, they’ve got a logjam of starting-caliber combo forwards.

It’s hard to know exactly what the Wizards might want from the Rockets in exchange for Rui Hachimura’s services. They should at least get on the phone with them to find out.
