Jalen Suggs
Anyone giving up on Jalen Suggs is doing so at their own peril. Yes, he had a rough rookie season in 2021-22. He still has plenty of the tools required to develop into a quality NBA player.
As a rookie, Suggs averaged 11.8 points per game on a 45.5 True Shooting % (TS%). That’s ugly. His 4.2 assists and 3.0 turnovers per game didn’t help his cause either. Suggs was generally plagued by inefficiency throughout the entire year.
He still flashed potential. At 6’4, Jalen Suggs has good size at the point guard position, and he’s a great athlete as well. He demonstrated solid passing chops and real defensive impact as a freshman. To live up to his 5th overall selection in the 2021 NBA Draft, he’ll need to bump up his three-point efficiency.
The Houston Rockets may view him as a buy-low opportunity. Meanwhile, the Magic may view him as expendable. Cole Anthony’s breakout 2021-22 season may change their perception of Suggs as the franchise point guard.

Meanwhile, Markelle Fultz is still on the roster as well. Like the Wizards with their wings, the Magic may have a logjam on their hands.
The most realistic scenario here probably occurs if the Rockets land a higher draft pick than Orlando. If the Magic are enamored by a target that’s outside of their reach, they may consider parting with Jalen Suggs to move up in the draft. That would at least give the Rockets’ front office a lot to think about.
