RJ Barrett/Julius Randle

The Utah Jazz is going to look to maximize any deal they make that involves Mitchell. If they want to remain competitive while adding some long-term pieces, the New York Knicks could put together a strong offer.

Utah will ask for RJ Barrett at the start of negotiations. New York will assuredly look to keep Barrett, as he could be the first player the Knicks have selected in the first round to sign an extension with the team since Charlie Ward, who was selected in the 1994 NBA Draft.

The Knicks also have other intriguing young talents in Obi Toppin, Immanuel Quickley, Cam Reddish, Quentin Grimes, Deuce McBride, and Jericho Sims that the Jazz could have varying levels of interest in. They would likely all be on the table during negotiations, in addition to first-round draft picks.

The Knicks could help keep the Utah Jazz competitive right away by offering Julius Randle as well. Randle picks and some of the young players that aren’t Barrett could be something that Utah has some interest in, especially if they believe Randle can recapture some of the magic he had during the 2020-21 season.
