LA Clippers Receive: G Donovan Mitchell, G Mike Conley
Utah Jazz Receive: Paul George, 2027 First-Round Pick (LAC), 2029 First-Round Pick (LAC)
We did mention these ideas were insane right? Good. If the Utah Jazz do find themselves in the heavily rumored scenario where Donovan Mitchell requests a trade, this may not be the package for them.
They’re only receiving two first-round picks for an All-Star and a starting-caliber player. Yes, they’re also landing Paul George, but they should be rebuilding, right?
Maybe. Maybe not. The Jazz aren’t known for long-term rebuilding projects. This deal allows them to stay competitive while adding some draft capital. That happens to be something they have precious little of.
They’re also short on defensive-minded wings. George at least scratches that itch. He becomes the team’s new first option while providing a much-needed defensive boost.

A frontcourt of Rudy Gobert, Royce O’Neale, and George figures to have a lot of stopping power. They can find a new backcourt (albeit downgraded) backcourt in the open market.
As for the Clippers, this trade gives them better floor balance. Mitchell offers from-scratch shot creation that, arguably, neither Kawhi Leonard nor Paul George provides.

Conley gives them the heady floor general that’s evaded them. This deal is unlikely to actualize, but on paper, it has some interesting elements.
