Portland Trail Blazers receive: Jerami Grant
Detroit Pistons receive: Eric Bledsoe, 2022 First-Round Pick (POR), 2024 First-Round Pick (POR – Top 10 protected)
If this deal transpires, it’s likely to happen on draft night. The Pistons may want a layout of the draft landscape before they decide that the Portland Trail Blazers’ pick is a legitimate centerpiece in a Jerami Grant exchange.
On the other hand, the Blazers may ask for more. If this pick conveys in the top 4, it could net them an even larger acquisition than Grant.
None of which is to say that Grant is small potatoes. He may be the perfect complement to Damian Lillard. He’s been deprived of the opportunity to play with a two-way wing of Grant’s ilk during his time in Rip City. Grant could be a viable second option for him while also making up some of the ground Portland’s league-worst defense ceded this year.
As for the Detroit Pistons, they should be happy with Portland’s lottery pick. The top-10 protected ’24 pick should be negotiable. The opportunity to add a prospect like Keegan Murray, Jalen Duren, Bennedict Mathurin, or more to their young core should be comfortably worth the cost of Grant.
