Consider Trading Tim Hardaway Jr.
Cap space and luxury taxes will be the two biggest problems the Mavericks face in the offseason and while we mentioned Davis Bertans as a possible “salary dump” move for that franchise, they could also look to leverage Tim Hardaway Jr.
The Mavs and Hardaway recently agreed to a four-year, $75 million deal, but prior to his foot injury, Tim Hardaway Jr. was only averaging 14.2 points per game, the lowest-scoring output for him since the 2015-16 season.
While he can be a force on the perimeter offensively, Spencer Dinwiddie, Jalen Brunson, and Dorian Finney-Smith have all played well next to Luka Doncic, which is why Hardaway Jr. has suddenly become expendable.
They should not just look to dump Tim Hardaway Jr. for a single draft pick, but if they can include him in a deal like the scenario above for Myles Turner, this would definitely be viewed as a win for the Mavericks.

Set to pay Tim Hardaway Jr. over $50 million through the 2024-25 season, it could make a lot of sense for the Mavericks to get out of this long-term contract now, especially after Hardaway Jr.’s foot injury that could force him to miss the remainder of the regular season and postseason for Dallas.
