New York Knicks Receive: G Markelle Fultz

Orlando Magic Receive: F/G Cam Reddish, G Kemba Walker

This hypothetical trade was put together by Greg Swartz over at Bleacher Report. He put together a piece detailing offseason trade ideas for all of the teams in the NBA that currently have the bleakest postseason outlook this season.

The New York Knicks and Orlando Magic are both on the outside looking in. While the Knicks have an outside shot at a Play-In Tournament spot, the Magic are 16 games behind and eliminated for all intents and purposes. So, the teams come together on a deal that can help push them closer to a playoff spot next season.

The Knicks address their long-term need at the point guard spot with Markelle Fultz, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Still only 23-years old, he has time to blossom into a serviceable point guard.

Heading to Orlando in the deal are Cam Reddish and Kemba Walker. Reddish is the centerpiece from the Magic’s perspective, while Walker is included to help match salaries.

Reddish is on the move for the second time in less than a year, as the Knicks acquired him from the Atlanta Hawks back in January. Walker would be on his fourth team in a year and likely heading for a fifth soon after the completion of this deal.

How does this deal impact both teams? Let’s take a look at it from each of their perspectives, starting with the Knicks.
