How This Trade Impacts New York Knicks
The New York Knicks No. 1 goal this offseason has to be finding a point guard. They thought they had the situation figured out this season with Kemba Walker and Derrick Rose running the show, but things didn’t pan out as planned.
Walker was ineffective for the majority of the season and Rose has been sidelined following a procedure on his ankle. That has left Alec Burks and Immanuel Quickley to run the show out of position. The lack of a point guard is as big of a reason the Knicks are in the position that they are.
If the opportunity arises to acquire someone such as Markelle Fultz, it is one that the team will have to seriously consider making. He is a long way removed from the disastrous start to his career with the Philadelphia 76ers. In 83 games with the Orlando Magic, Fultz is averaging 12 points, 4.6 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 steals in 27.2 minutes per game.
Fultz needs to continue working on his 3-point shooting, but the improvements he has made at the foul line provide some optimism that he can turn it around. Still only 23-years old, Fultz could be the long-term answer at the position for the Knicks.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Why Knicks Need To Move On From Julius Randle Soon
Moving on from Cam Reddish already is something that some people may be against, but with the emergence of Quentin Grimes, there aren’t as many minutes available for him in New York as there were with the Atlanta Hawks. He may relish a move to a team that can make him a prominent part of the rotation.
