Find A Third Star To Pair With Sabonis And Fox

Trading for Domantas Sabonis was a big move for the Kings to make and it basically locks up their frontcourt for now. Being one of the league’s best rebounders and low-post scorers, Sabonis will make his impact felt in Sacramento over the next few years and they now have a really solid duo pairing with him and De’Aaron Fox.

However, this is not enough for the Kings to end their playoff skid, especially given that they have one of the weakest supporting casts in the league.

In addition to going out and finding key secondary talents to put on their bench, the Kings must also consider the idea of adding a third All-Star talent.

In terms of All-Stars available in free agency, the Kings most likely will not be able to find what they are looking for since Zach LaVine will likely re-sign with the Bulls, Kyrie Irving will not go to Sacramento and Bradley Beal will likely sign a long-term extension with Washington, but there are quite a few notable names that could hit the trade block in the offseason.

Julius Randle is an intriguing name for the Kings to watch in the offseason and Tobias Harris could be another player for Sacramento to consider.

Harris’ contract is not favorable whatsoever, but he is a slightly better scorer than Harrison Barnes on the wing and could thrive as the third option next to Fox and Sabonis.

The problem with going after Tobias Harris though is the fact that he costs roughly $20 million more than that of Barnes and the Kings could probably get better value for their veteran forward should they look to trade him.

The key to building a successful playoff team in the NBA nowadays is to have star-power on the offensive end of the floor. De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis are both great players at their respective positions, but the Kings are missing that one extra 18-20 point per game scorer on their roster right now.

Until they get that player, they will not be making the playoffs.
