Move Davion Mitchell Into Starting Rotation Next To De’Aaron Fox
There were a lot of question marks about starting Tyrese Haliburton alongside De’Aaron Fox when the Kings drafted Haliburton and that pairing turned out to be great for the Kings.
Unfortunately, Tyrese Haliburton is now in Indiana, which opens up the second starting guard spot in the Kings’ rotation. Sacramento has had a lot of starting lineups this season, but heading into the 2022-23 season, it should be very clear that Davion Mitchell deserves to start alongside De’Aaron Fox.
In 58 games this season, Davion Mitchell has been a very underrated rookie, averaging 10.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and shooting 40.3% from the floor.
His minutes have seemed to fluctuate quite a bit this season, but Mitchell is definitely a factor in the Kings’ rotation as a two-way player. With Fox and Haliburton both out of the lineup at points this year, Davion Mitchell proved that he could hold his own in the starting rotation.

In eight games as a starter this season, the rookie guard has averaged 16.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, 4.9 assist and has shot 46.3% from the floor. It is not shocking to see Mitchell thrive in the starting rotation rather than the bench, especially since he is able to get in a shooting rhythm when starting.
Justin Holiday and Terence Davis are also under contract next season and options for the Kings to start at shooting guard, but they would be helping themselves a lot by pairing De’Aaron Fox with Davion Mitchell in the starting-five.
