Trade For Eric Gordon

Not many teams in the league are going to be interested in Tobias Harris’ contract, as mentioned before, but the Houston Rockets are a big question mark heading into the offseason.

They are still rebuilding and with key trade assets in John Wall, Christian Wood, and Eric Gordon, they could very well end up finding themselves attached to a couple of big moves made in the offseason.

John Wall going to the Lakers is a big possibility in a Russell Westbrook-centric trade package, but the 76ers could also look to get involved in a deal like this by pursuing a veteran scorer on the wing-like Eric Gordon.

Leading up to the trade deadline, Gordon was receiving some interest from playoff contenders around the league, but the Rockets did not want to trade him unless they were receiving a handful of value and return, as they did not want to just “dump” Eric Gordon for nothing since he has still be a key contributor for them.

Not only does Eric Gordon have a good relationship with 76ers’ team president Daryl Morey, but he and James Harden were always close in Houston.

Eric Gordon is familiar with the way James Harden plays and with the 76ers having a need for more shooting on the wing with Seth Curry gone, Gordon could immediately join this team and give them a jolt of energy on the perimeter either in or out of the starting rotation.

On Houston’s end of things, they would likely need to trade Christian Wood to bring in Tobias Harris, but Wood was a player on the trade block ahead of the deadline and the Rockets could take this opportunity of acquiring Harris from the 76ers to part ways with Wood for a handful of future assets.

If they can make the trade work, the 76ers would likely be more than thrilled to end up with Eric Gordon for Tobias Harris, not just because their tax bill will decrease significantly, but because Gordon is only under contract through the 2023-24 season and the final year of his contract is non-guaranteed.
