Ja Morant Is Amongst The Offensive League-Leaders

Being on a winning team and having a certain level of “swag” goes a long way in terms of the MVP voting in the NBA, but at the end of the day, it truly is a statistical race amongst players. 

Versatility across different stats has become a huge selling point for many MVP-favorites over the years and Ja Morant has proven that he can hang with the “top dogs” in the NBA this season.

In addition, Ja Morant ranks 6th in the league in player efficiency rating, 17th in win shares, and 9th in valuable above replacement player, all metrics being used to compare MVP candidates amongst one another. Ja Morant also has the second-most points scored in a game this season with his 52-point game on Monday night against the Spurs.

Not only is Morant leading the Grizzlies this season, but he is amongst the rest of the league leaders in multiple different categories. Very rarely do point guards with Ja Morant’s athleticism and versatility enter the league and at just 22-years-old, he is already redefining the way teams evaluate the point guard position. 

Very few players have the ability to change the way the game is played and because of how explosive he is on the floor Ja Morant could very well change the way the point guard position is looked at for years to come. 

Maybe he will not win MVP this season, but by the time his career is over, Ja Morant will have at least one MVP award in his trophy case.
