Would this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?
The Indiana Pacers are a team that prides itself on being competitive. At the NBA trade deadline, they opted to move on from Domantas Sabonis and Caris LeVert. Now, they have Tyrese Haliburton in the fold as their point guard of the future.
Using the No. 13 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, the Pacers selected Chris Duarte and he’s been impressive in his rookie season. With a guard tandem to build around, there isn’t a need to keep Malcolm Brogdon around.
If the Pacers want to accelerate their chances of being competitive next season a bit, perhaps they could leverage Brogdon in a trade to add a talented wing player? Jerami Grant would be an intriguing option to consider.
Alongside Myles Turner in the frontcourt, there would be a lot of defensive versatility between the two. The Pacers would be able to run their half-court offense through Grant as he desires as well considering Tyrese Haliburton is a pass-first point guard.
