Indiana Pacers Receive: F Jerami Grant
Detroit Pistons Receive: G Malcolm Brogdon
This would be a rather straightforward NBA trade scenario where Jerami Grant and Malcolm Brogdon would be the only two players involved.
The Detroit Pistons would be emphasizing the decision to add a stable backcourt partner next to Cade Cunningham as he continues to develop in the early stage of his career. There’s been some stylistic clash between Cunningham and Grant within the half-court.
As for the Indiana Pacers, there is little need to keep Malcolm Brogdon around given they already have Tyrese Haliburton and Chris Duarte as the backcourt building blocks of the future.
Where there’s a real need is a frontcourt partner next to Myles Turner, or whoever ends up being the Pacers’ center. Indiana was playing two bigs next to each other for years, but taking a chance on Grant would show Indiana what a modern style could look like in a more substantial sample size with Turner at the five.

The Pacers acheived strong success with TJ Warren playing the four next to Turner during the NBA Bubble, but Warren hasn’t managed to stay healthy since. Grant could perhaps be what Indiana has missed, and if Warren gets back to form and re-signs, he can fill the three spot.
Let’s take a look at whether this NBA trade scenario would make sense for both sides, beginning with the perspective of the Detroit Pistons followed by the Indiana Pacers side of things.
