Would this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?

The Detroit Pistons still need to see where they will land in the 2022 NBA Draft order, but currently hold the top odds for the No. 1 overall pick. The team will have the option to add a key talent in the frontcourt given it’s a loaded class in that regard. What about the rest of the roster?

Based on various NBA trade rumors where the Pistons have seemingly been eyeing the Dallas Mavericks’ supporting cast pieces around Luka Doncic, there appears to be a pattern. The team-building efforts by the Pistons could look emblematic to that of what the Mavs have done around their star.

What has been most effective for the Mavericks has been the implementation of Brunson as a secondary ball-handler talent. He thrives playing off the catch and can do initiating of his own. In fact, the Pistons have been linked as a potential suitor for his services in free agency.

Malcolm Brogdon would be able to check all of those boxes that Brunson offers while bringing more size to the backcourt. Brogdon, who stands at 6-foot-5, would enable the Pistons to switch with ease defensively.
