The Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers both are two Eastern Conference teams currently with some intriguing young talent but are playing the rest of the 2021-22 NBA season without a chance to be a playoff team.
There will be options for both teams to reshape their respective rosters during the upcoming offseason. The Pacers got ahead of part of this effort by moving Domantas Sabonis and Caris LeVert to new teams prior to the passing of the NBA trade deadline.
In the Pacers’ trade with the Sacramento Kings, they sent out Sabonis and received Tyese Haliburton and Buddy Hield in return. Haliburton is widely considered as being the point guard of Indiana’s future.
There was speculation about Myles Turner being dealt before the NBA trade deadline first before any of the Pacers’ other veteran players. A foot injury deterred some teams from pursuing him and he remains on the roster. However, there’s been some reporting about an expectation he will remain on the team for the start of next season.
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Pacers Expected To Trade Brogdon After Acquiring Haliburton
Turner is entering the final year of his contract in 2022-23, however. If he doesn’t get an extension done with the Pacers in the summer, it becomes more challenging to envision him not being moved. Now, Malcolm Brogdon very well could be on the move regardless given the backcourt overlap.
The Pistons had trade discussions centered around Jerami Grant with quite a few teams but his desired parameters complicated those talks. The Indiana Pacers could pay him and feature him offensively. Could there be a pathway to a potential deal?
