Dwane Casey – Detroit Pistons
Since his first season with the Detroit Pistons during the 2018-19 season, where he coached them to 41-41 record and a playoff berth, head coach Dwane Casey has posted back-to-back seasons with just 20 wins and the Pistons currently find themselves 13-45 this season.
A lot of this is because of the fact that they have the least amount of talent in the league and have been a rebuilding franchise for quite some time, but the Pistons are starting to carve out a future for themselves.
Jerami Grant has established himself as a high-level, two-way talent at either forward position, Saddiq Bey is a young, talented scorer on the wing and No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham has been a terrific all-around talent for Detroit.
Nobody is saying that the Pistons should be a playoff team, but they definitely have pieces in place to be better than 13-45 this season and given that 16 of their remaining 24 games are against teams currently inside the NBA’s playoff picture, Dwane Casey and the Pistons may not eclipse 20 wins in a season yet again!

Dwane Casey is a former Coach of the Year and is a really good head coach, but he has not progressed at all with this group in Detroit and the next step for this franchise could be looking for a younger coach that can relate more to his players.
The future is bright for the Detroit Pistons, but they really have not made any progress on the floor over the last few seasons. As a result, Dwane Casey could be the “scapegoat” for this franchise in the offseason.
