Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
On the flip side, this would be the best-case scenario for the Philadelphia 76ers. Daryl Morey has said all along that he wants to get an All-Star-caliber player in exchange for Ben Simmons and has even stated that he might wait it out for a superstar.
James Harden is exactly that.
Morey and Harden were never able to win it all with the Houston Rockets, but with Joel Embiid holding it down at the center position, the Sixers would immediately be one of the best teams in the East, and maybe even the NBA.
Embiid would easily be the best big man Harden has ever played with throughout his career. And on top of that, there’s an easy argument to say that he’s the best overall player Harden would have ever played with. (Sorry, Chris Paul.)
LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Teams Sound Really Worried About James Harden Going To Sixers
The pick-n-roll with Harden and Embiid would be some of the best the NBA has ever seen. With the supporting cast the Sixers currently have, and whoever else they add in the offseason, that team should instantly be a top contender for the title.
If Harden actually ends up wanting out to leave the Brooklyn Nets, the Sixers would almost certainly be his top choice of a destination. That would be the dream scenario for Morey and the 76ers, and based on the recent collusion accusations, it might already be in motion.
