Would this trade make sense for the Brooklyn Nets?
The Brooklyn Nets would obviously be getting the short end of the stick in this trade. It’s no secret that James Harden is the better player out of him and Ben Simmons, but if Harden wants to leave, there’s not much the Nets can do about it.
Instead of losing him for nothing, getting Simmons back in a return would at least give them another All-Star-caliber player. Despite all of the off-the-court drama that comes with Simmons, the 25-year-old is still one of the most intriguing on-court talents in the NBA.
First and foremost, his defensive presence would completely change the way the Nets play defense. Adding a defender of his caliber alongside Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving would give them an insane two-way presence at all times.
Plus, Simmons’ great playmaking abilities would help replace some of the passing that would be lost with Harden. The Nets have shooters up and down the roster, and that’s exactly the type of team Simmons should be surrounded with.

Simmons never worked out to the fullest extent with the Philadelphia 76ers, but on a team as talented as Brooklyn, he would almost certainly thrive. With that much outside shooting around him, he could even play the center position for them and be an absolute beast.
