How This Trade Impacts Miami Heat

The Miami Heat are already contenders in the Eastern Conference, but a deal like this with the Detroit Pistons could make them the proverbial favorites to represent the conference in the NBA Finals.

Miami would have a loaded starting five after this deal. While Jerami Grant isn’t the sharpshooter that Duncan Robinson is, he brings so much more to the table as a two-way wing with the versatility to fill numerous spots.

Grant has shown that he can be relied upon as a go-to scorer with his time on the Pistons. He is looking for a team that he would remain in a featured role offensively with and the Heat would be able to provide him that. He could very easily be the 1B to Jimmy Butler’s 1A and in some situations be the go-to guy.

Miami would also be motivated to make a deal knowing how popular Grant is on the rumor mill. The only way to ensure that he doesn’t end up with another team looking to contend in the conference such as the Chicago Bulls, Philadelphia 76ers, or Toronto Raptors, is to make a deal themselves.

A starting group of Kyle Lowry, Butler, Grant, P.J. Tucker, and Bam Adebayo would present issues for any team in the NBA. They could switch 1-5 defensively and have enough firepower to score on even the strongest of defenses.

The only issue with this deal is the Heat are sacrificing a lot of depth, something they already don’t have much of. However, they would be a top destination for anyone that became available on the buyout market in the coming days and weeks.
