Does this trade make sense for the Minnesota Timberwolves?
Should Minnesota want Marcus Smart this season, sacrificing Malik Beasley is not a bad trade off for them at all. Beasley has helped the Minnesota Timberwolves in terms of three-point shooting and they are not going to be a strong perimeter team without him, but Minnesota’s main concern right now is on the defensive-end of the floor.
Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards are one of the best scoring trios in the league, so offense is not the problem for this team this season.
Upgrading their defense could not only go a long way in helping the Timberwolves clinch their second postseason berth since 2005, but it could also give them a really strong fighting chance in their first-round series.
Minnesota is not going to be able to beat the Suns or Warriors, assuming they are at full-strength, in the first-round of the playoffs this season, but with the addition of Marcus Smart defensively, they would match-up well against the Grizzlies, Mavericks and Nuggets.
