How This Deal Impacts Philadelphia 76ers
While this is a deal that the Memphis Grizzlies would likely love to make, it isn’t one the Philadelphia 76ers would be interested in. Daryl Morey has made it clear what they want in return for Ben Simmons and this doesn’t meet those requirements.
While they would turn this deal down, this one presents the 76ers with a lot to work with. Their depth would be among the best in the NBA acquiring Dillon Brooks, Kyle Anderson and De’Anthony Melton.
Brooks could slide right into their starting rotation, bringing a lot to the table that Danny Green does but with a lot more of an offensive punch. We have seen Brooks dominate games when he gets going and the bright lights of the playoffs don’t faze him.
Anderson is a do-it-all forward that would provide a lot of versatility to Doc Rivers’ rotation. Another strong defender, he can play alongside Tobias Harris and Joel Embiid in bigger lineups, while providing some solid playmaking as well.

Melton provides more insurance in the backcourt at the point guard position. Tyrese Maxey has been excellent this season, but he has played some heavy minutes in some games without a viable backup behind him. Melton would mitigate that.
The draft picks provide the 76ers with great value as well. They would have three first-round picks in 2022, giving them some serious ammunition to make another deal to acquire the superstar they seek.

However, that isn’t a route Philadelphia wanted to take. They want to land the superstar in exchange for Simmons, not have to make a separate deal to bring them into town.
