Golden State Warriors Receive: F John Collins
Atlanta Hawks Receive: C James Wiseman, F Jonathan Kuminga, C Kevon Looney
This is an incomplete look at the deal the Golden State Warriors would have to make for John Collins, as there would likely be another team involved and/or draft picks as well.
In order for the Warriors to take on John Collins’ massive contract, they will need to send out roughly $20M in salaries this season, meaning that a package containing James Wiseman, Jonathan Kunmigna and Kevon Looney really is the only option the Warriors have unless they are willing to move rookie Moses Moody and another small contract player, but that would make this trade four players for the price of one.
The Atlanta Hawks do not necessarily need to give up and “rebuild”, but they do need to make a big switch with their roster and it will most likely involve John Collins.
Between him being frustrated next to Trae Young and the Hawks’ playoff hopes slipping away, this team really does need to try and target another All-Star-level player to pair with Young long-term.

Caris LeVert from Indiana and Ben Simmons from Philadelphia are two options for the Hawks, but the ever looming “rebuild” is always still an option.
Trading Collins to the Warriors could return some key, young talents that the Hawks would have a hard time saying no to. James Wiseman and Jonathan Kuminga are two young, promising looking two-way players in this league and Kevon Looney is one of the best “glue guys” in the league in terms of playing his role to perfection.
Nothing about this trade blows the Atlanta Hawks away in terms of contending in the East this year, but long-term, there is a lot of value to be had from Golden State.

As for the Golden State Warriors, this move simply comes down to two things. The first is the health of Draymond Green and the second is how they view themselves versus the Phoenix Suns at the top of the Western Conference.
If they are confident in their team as it is, which they should be, there is no reason for Golden State to make this trade, but this league is all about winning championships and John Collins could certainly help them do so given how talented he is.
