The last two seasons have not been too favorable to the Golden State Warriors due to injuries, but the 2021-22 season is shaping up to be a special season for them. The Warriors are looking to make their four NBA Finals appearances in the last eight seasons and currently 38-13, they hold the second-best record in the league.

While they hit a rough patch in their schedule in early January, winning just 5 of their first 11 games in the month, Golden State has won six straight games now and are starting to find their rhythm again.

Draymond Green is out of the lineup for the Warriors due to a lower back/disc injury and Klay Thompson is still working his way back to full-speed, but at full-strength, the Warriors are going to be an extremely tough team to beat in a seven-game series this season.

Just because they have had so much success early on though does not mean that GM Bob Myers and the Warriors’ front-office will stand idle at the trade deadline.

This organization has always prided themselves on their ability to make in-season adjustments and the trade deadline could absolutely present a way for the Warriors to increase their title odds this year.

Their only problem though is cap space and the luxury tax line. The Warriors currently sit well over the salary cap and are paying the most in luxury taxes this season, which could limit any potential moves to add another big name player, but if they wanted to, someone like John Collins from Atlanta could wind up being a last-minute target of theirs.

The Atlanta Hawks have struggled this season at just 24-26 on the season and Collins seems to be upset about the way his team has performed. According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, John Collins has grown “increasingly frustrated” over his role in Atlanta due to his usage rate and effectiveness in their rotations decreasing.

Already trading Cam Reddish to the New York Knicks, could the Hawks take this opportunity at the trade deadline to go through some sort of a soft “rebuild/re-boot” in attempts to remain relevant long-term in the Eastern Conference?

Let’s take a look at what a trade scenario for the Golden State Warriors to acquire Atlanta Hawks forward John Collins could end up looking like.
