The Cleveland Cavaliers are poised for a significant NBA offseason overhaul to enhance their roster to better complement star Donovan Mitchell. To become a more formidable contender in the Eastern Conference, the Cavaliers are reportedly eyeing additional firepower to supplement their lineup.

One notable player catching the Cavaliers’ interest is Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans, who could provide the wing scoring the team lacked this season. According to our own Grant Afseth, Ingram, entering the final year of his contract amid speculation about his future with the Pelicans, emerges as an attractive option.

“Among the potential trade targets that could be of interest is Brandon Ingram of the New Orleans Pelicans, to provide another reliable scoring threat on the wing next to Donovan Mitchell, per various league sources,” Afseth noted.

Ingram’s ability to contribute effectively was evident with his season averages of 20.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists, and a solid shooting percentage from the field at 49.2%.

Despite these strong regular season performances, Ingram and the Pelicans faced a quick exit from the playoffs, swept by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round. During the series, Ingram’s numbers dipped to 14.3 points per game with decreased shooting efficiency, which could influence the Pelicans’ decisions about his future with the team.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Donovan Mitchell, Cleveland Cavaliers, Brandon Ingram, New Orleans Pelicans Updates

Ingram, who won the Most Improved Player of the Year Award in the 2019-20 season, has consistently shown he can be a key contributor on any team.

Originally acquired by New Orleans in the blockbuster trade that sent Anthony Davis to the Los Angeles Lakers, Ingram has had a notable impact. However, the Pelicans have struggled to translate his and the team’s efforts into playoff success.

As the Cavaliers rebuild and retool around Mitchell, who is also up for a significant contract extension, acquiring a player like Ingram could be crucial. The move would bolster their scoring options and provide Mitchell with a reliable secondary scorer as they aim to make deeper playoff runs in the coming seasons.
