Does this trade make sense for the Detroit Pistons?
In terms of getting key talents to continue rebuilding with, the Pistons certainly get value in this trade with Thomas Bryant, Deni Avdija, Davis Bertans and a future first-round pick, but Detroit may not want to wait until 2025 to get a first-round pick.
GM Troy Weaver has this team in an excellent spot early on in their rebuild and while it is going to take a few more years before they look like a finished product, they need immediate draft compensation to get to where they want to be.
Washington cannot offer a draft pick until 2025 due to prior obligations in past trades, which is why they could have a tough time putting together a package of draft compensation that would make sense for the Pistons.
On the other side of things though, Rui Hachimura, Kyle Kuzma, Deni Avdija and Corey Kispert are all young, former first-round picks that could make up for this lack of draft compensation going to Detroit.

Deni Avdija is certainly someone that would be of interest to the Pistons in a trade involving Jerami Grant, but in order for this trade to fully make sense for Detroit, they may need to be receiving either Kispert or Kuzma instead of Thomas Bryant.
Moving on from Jerami Grant right now is a smart move for the Pistons, especially since other teams could sign him from underneath them in free agency following next season, but they must make sure they are getting the best return possible.
